Information Technology Specialist

The incumbent is responsible for the Lowell National Historical Park's information and data processing technology. The incumbent will work with the GS-12 work leader to manage the Park's information technology needs. The incumbent is expected to work independently on most task and in collaboration with work leader and teams throughout the park on more complex, park-wide projects. Incumbent is expected to have completed TIA A
certification or similar. Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Installs and tests operation and installation of software, LAN components, network workstations and computer hardware which includes servers, laptops, printers, mail postage machine, and other peripheral equipment such as A/V systems. Prepares and schedules installation of new and upgrade applications. Troubleshoots system and equipment errors, connectivity problems, stability issues of communication lines. Provides initial computer and associated training such as initial log on instructions, how to set-up phone system, and how to access network services. Prepares job aids and provides additional training when new systems go live Ensure Park is up-to-date and in compliance with operational and security requirements in accordance with NPS policy Provides customer service throughout the park. This includes maintaining and tracking customer issues through a help desk system, proactively researching problem trends and bringing possible resolutions to work leader and supervisor Provides advice and recommendations to work leader and supervisor on standard customer service procedures, capability of existing equipment, potential capacity and cost associated with proposed new equipment or applications Provides leadership on standard software and technical support to users in identifying, designing, developing and implementing approved applications All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/07/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Experience:
Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. 1. Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
implementing and maintaining network and systems services; monitoring network and systems performance and troubleshooting problems; documenting and initiating response to security problems; or providing guidance and training to customers in accessing network and systems services. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. Degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, I have six months of specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 27 semester hours or 41 quarter hours of directly related graduate level education in an accredited educational institution (50% of the qualifying graduate education). The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
