As a Landscape Architect GS-0807-12, with the National Park Service (NPS), your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Advise on cultural landscape restoration or preservation projects to ensure that all historic and culturally significant aspects are preserved. Develop engineering and landscape architectural drawings and specifications Conduct research, investigations, assessments and evaluations. Participate in planning studies for existing or proposed areas where cultural landscape preservation is a significant factor. Conduct investigations of project sites to determine the feasibility of the project including the development of design alternatives and analysis to ensure the project comply with applicable policies; federal, state and local standards. Prepare architectural and engineering design task orders that describes the professional services required to meet the project objectives and requirements. Develop and carry out research projects for advancement of technical knowledge directly related to landscape preservation treatment projects. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/20/2019-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. In order to qualify for the Architect (Historical), GS-0808-12 position, you must meet one of the following basic education requirements:
Bachelor's or higher degree in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Design. OR A combination education and experience. Each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had 1 year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design. PLEASE NOTE:

In addition to meeting the basic education requirement, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level applying professional Landscape Architect skills and techniques for preserving cultural landscapes; developing and implementing guidelines, standards and procedures; formulating, developing and evaluating of plans for recreational resources for soil and storm water management; formulating, developing and evaluating plans for design of landscape features in historical and non-historical structures, buildings and properties. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
