As a Architect (Historical) GS-0808-12, with the National Park Service (NPS), your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Provides architectural services for the preservation, stabilization, rehabilitation, restoration, and reconstruction of 16th - 20th-century historical structures such as lighthouses, battlefield fortifications, churches, and monuments. Conducts architectural/engineering investigations of project historic and non-historic structures and sites to determine the feasibility of the proposed project, including the development of design alternatives and subsequent analysis to ensure the projects comply with policies and applicable federal, state and local standards. Develops engineering and architectural drawings and specifications. Prepares treatment and preservation plans. Prepares drawings for use by the office and to the standards of and for inclusion in the Historic American Buildings Survey and the Historic American Engineering Record. Prepares the scope of work (SOW) to define the project's objectives and requirements for a variety of historic and non-historic structures. Serves as the Contracting Officers Technical Representative (COTR) to the Contracting Officer on various projects. Provides liaison with park management, and ensure's that during the course of these projects/contracts, the contractor's performance meets the technical requirements of the procurement, and that treatments are properly documented. In order to qualify for the Architect (Historical), GS-0808-12 position, you must meet one of the following basic education requirements:
Bachelor's or higher degree in Architecture. OR Bachelor's or higher degree in a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture OR related disciplines of which at least 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and 6 semester hours were in each of the following:
structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. OR A combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by at least one of the following:
(1) A degree in architectural engineering OR (2) One year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture. In the absence of college courses, 5 years of such experience is required. This experience must have demonstrated acquisition of thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture. PLEASE NOTE:

In addition to meeting the basic education requirement, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level applying professional architecture skills and professional knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of historic architecture, architectural conservation, building preservation, stabilization, rehabilitation, and reconstruction procedures and methodologies; planning and managing historic preservation projects; preparing or assisting with the preparation of engineering/architectural investigation reports on historic properties; overseeing contractor work on a historic architecture-related project; preparing engineering and architectural specifications and work plans; and work involving a variety of conventional or design, renovation, and maintenance projects (e.g., a variety of roof types, woodworking, building facade, etc.) for structures and effect of the work resulted in improving the efficiency, economy, safety, adequacy, and aesthetics of buildings. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
