As an Interdisciplinary (GIS Specialist), you will:
Designs, develops, and manages the GIS database and database management system, including the conversion of thematic source maps from analog to digital form through the use of appropriate hardware and software. Conducts analysis of geo-referenced data to determine resources conditions and trends using integrating computer models and other tools with biological and physical scientific knowledge and resources management practices. Manages and integrates a variety of GIS and database management software, and when necessary, modifies or adapts standard software to meet program needs. Maintains hardware, peripherals, CPS units, network, and GIS operation systems. Plans, executes, and supervises field work in remote environments to generate new or verify mapped information. Trains and instructs others in the use of GIS applications and basic GIS, GPS, and related technology. Responsible for developing a GIS visualization and data platform that will benefit the National Park Service and the National Response System (NRS) at the federal, tribal, state and local levels, including all DOI Offices and Bureaus. While this project is regional in scope, it will be of benefit to all regions and reaching out to all US states and territories. This product will assist in closing inter-agency information gaps on tribal government contacts establishing real time updates to the GIS data, and verifying information with tribal governments on areas of interest. This is an Interdisciplinary (GIS Specialist), GS-11 position which may filled in any one of the following professional occupational series:
Geographer, GS-0150; Biologist, GS-0401; Physical Scientist, GS-1301, or Cartographer, GS-1370. OPM's Basic Requirements for Geographer, GS-0150 A. Must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields. OR, B. Must have a combination of 4 years of education and experience which included courses equivalent to a major in geography or a related field that included 24 semester hours in Geography, or related fields listed in 1A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education, to total 4 years. 2. OPM's Basic Requirement for Biologist, GS-0401 A. Must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR, B. Must possess an equivalent combination of education and experience that included course work equivalent to a major (i.e., 24 semester hours) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline closely related to biology; PLUS appropriate experience or additional course work. 3. OPM's Basic Requirement for Physical Scientist, GS-1301 A. Must have successfully completed a four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelors or higher degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR, B. Must have an equivalent combination of four years of education and experience which included courses equivalent to a major in any of the fields listed in 3A above that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science plus appropriate experience or additional education. 4. OPM's Basic Requirements for Cartographer, GS-1370 A. Must have successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites). OR, B. Must have an equivalent combination of courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown in 4A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. 5. Specialized Experience and/or Education. In addition to meeting at least one of the basic requirements (1-4) you must also possess one of the following qualification standards or you will be considered not qualified and will not receive further consideration. Experience:
Must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience for this position includes, but is not limited to:
using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database and database management systems; integrating computer models with biological and physical scientific knowledge and management practices; design and maintain geodatabases; develop Global Positioning Systems (GPS) data dictionaries and spatial data inventories; participate in field work to generate new spatial data or verify (ground truth) mapped information; and/or prepare GIS plans and resource management plan project statements related to GIS. OR, EDUCATION:
Must have successfully completed three years of progressively higher leave graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a directly related field of study. OR, COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Must possess a combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Volunteer

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
