All applicants must have one of the following:
Degree in accounting Degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, economics or public administration and 24 semester hours in accounting including up to 6 hours of business law. Four years of accounting experience AND 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses or a certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor. Combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge AND 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses or a certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor. Experience:
In addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade. For the GS-07, specialized experience which includes:
Working as a trainee accountant or auditor performing relatively simple audit steps and tasks such as examining routine financial documents, preparing simple summaries and schedules, and organizing work paper files. For the GS-09, specialized experience which includes:
Performing audit steps and tasks of limited difficulty and complexity such as conducting evaluations, examinations, or other fact-finding studies and preparing draft audit reports using a practical application of auditing standards, procedures, and technology. For the GS-11, specialized experience which includes:
performing audit assignments using conventional methods and techniques such as developing audit risk assessment and preparing audit programs/plans; testing and examining accounting systems and records, cost representations, and internal controls to assure compliance with accounting and auditing principles, standards and regulations; recommending initial audit determinations; preparing audit working papers and substantiating documents; drafting reports, or segments of reports, of audit findings, conclusions and recommendations. Experience:
Paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
